Entry 10

I finally finished revising my paper. There was just errors that I mentioned in the passed entry that I had posted. In my opinion I think that my paper is already good enough for it to be finalized and submitted. All I have to do now is email it to the professor and submit a hard copy of it in for Thursday's class. I am so relieved that I am done with the whole research paper process and I am proud of myself of actually getting a good grade on it in the first shot. Entry #9

This week I was able to get the "potential grade" for my paper based on my draft. I'm relieved that a major part of the my paper is done and finished. I got a potential grade of an A- and was provided ways that I can improve my grade to a possible A+. Its great that my hard work got a good grade. So now all I have to do is to make the corrections that the professor has recommended which thankfully isn't much. The issue I had with this research paper were my run-on sentences which didn't come to much of a surprise to me because usually that is the problem I have with my writing in other classes.

ENTRY 8

This week our first draft for our research papers are due. It honestly took me while to finish writing the paper because I started writing it last week. The hard part about writing the paper was just compiling and organizing the information that I had accumulated. Once I had everything organized, the paper got a little bit easier to write. I know my draft isn't going to be perfect or is an A paper but hopefully the feedback that  will receive will help me get a higher grade. I must admit, so far I enjoyed researching for my topic only because I like history.

ENTRY 7

This week I was able to get a lot of work done on my research paper. I did more research as well especially since our work cited page was due today. I was able to find more information that contributes to the last parts of my paper. I feel like I'm making good progress and am confident that I would be able to finish my paper the day that our first drafts are due. I actually learned new things in regards to my topic.

ENTRY 6

I wasn't able to writ ea blog about last weeks classes so I'm going to do so now. Last week we submitted our quotation paragraphs. I was able to choose two from the encyclopedia source that I had used from my annotated bibliography. One of the quotations spoke about the reason to why the Spanish-American War had began and the other quotation that came from the same source provided information on what concluded the war. The last quotation I used came from an article called "El Disastre" which provided a brief explanation of what the Philippines and Puerto Rico benefited from the war.

ENTRY 5

Since the professor extended the date to when our annotated bibliographies are due, I have more time to work on mine. I've just been looking for resources this week so I would be able to write my annotated bibliography that is due on Tuesday. So far I have done three mainly because I have just been picky on which resources I'm going to use. I just don't want to pick any article but ones that I will for sure use for my final paper.

ENTRY 4

On Tuesday we got to go to the library so we could find more sources for our research paper. The resources were many articles from the library database that is accessible to our computers from home. We also got a brief lesson on how to do our annotated bibliography that is due next Thursday. So, this week I'm going to be doing a lot of reading on my topic (Spanish-American War). When I'm finally done reading from five sources, I will then write a summary on them for the assignment that will be due.

ENTRY 3

During class on Tuesday we wrote down different questions that had to do with our research papers. For example, we wrote down questions if our papers were informative, persuasive, analytic and argumentative. So with doing that exercise, it helped us to develop our thesis statement for our research proposals and eventually our research papers. This week I was able to start off my research paper proposal that would be turned in on Tuesday October 8th. So with doing the proposal, I was able to somewhat organize what I am going to write on my paper.

ENTRY 2

I have finally made a decision  on what topic I am going to be doing my research paper on! The topic that I have chosen is the Spanish-American War mainly because I have great deal of interest in history and especially this topic since my country was a part of it (Philippines). I have printed out three resources that I am definitely going to be using on my research paper and whill use for my resource folder. I printed out one article from the history channel website, one from the Hispanic Division of Library Congress and another a website call "office of historian". One of the most important one was the article I printed out on why and how the war ended. So, so far I htink I'm making good progress on the "research" part of my research paper.

ENTRY 1

As of right now I'm not fully sure of what I want to write about for my research paper this semester. There are two topics that catch my eye but still haven't made a decision on. I want to pick the topic on the U.S. was with Spain in 1898 mainly because I have a lot of knowledge about it but I also want to do the immigration and American dream one because I am immigrant myself. I should have a decision by Thursday when the class meets again.
